Senior Lecturer in Education

I graduated as a mature student from Bedford College of Higher Education in 1992 with a B.Ed (Hons) and a specialism in Early Years.
Whilst working for a Local Authority as an Advisory Teacher in Early Years, I gained an MA in Early Childhood Education with Care (2004) at the Penn Green Research, Development and Training Centre in Corby under the leadership of Dr Margy Whalley.
I came to the University as Senior Lecturer in Early Years and Primary in September 2008 where my work is with the HEFCE Team.
I am passionate about the Early Years and committed to supporting the provision of high quality and developmentally appropriate early years pedagogy across all settings providing education and care for our youngest and most vulnerable children.
I belong to TACTYC: Training, Advancement and Co-operation in Teaching Young Children.
My particular interest within Early Years is early literacy and I am hoping to be able to undertake research concerning the needs of boys in this area.
