Profile

I was educated at the University of York, where I gained a D.Phil in History. There I began research into the history of religion and the family. This provided the basis for work on baptism, childhood, the family and religion in the Tudor and Stuart periods.

Teaching Expertise

  • Education Studies and English Literature, particularly around attitudes to and ideas about childhood and youth and in the areas of film studies.
  • Contribute a historical strand to the Disability Studies course.

Research Interests

  • History of war, religion and society in the past.
  • Contrasting topics of early modern warfare and the history of children’s’ play.
