Carolyn Naughton obtained a LL.B. in 1983 from the University of Hull and subsequently passed the Final Examinations for the Law Society. Having successfully completed her training contract, Carolyn was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 1985.
She worked full-time as a solicitor specialising in conveyancing and family law until 1990. For the next two years, Carolyn worked as a conciliation officer for the Solicitors Complaints Bureau and as a visiting lecturer for Oaklands College, before joining the School of Law in 1992.
In 2008 she took over as Academic Director of Undergraduate Studies and divided her time Carolyn between her teaching duties, scholarly activities, educational development and administrative duties.
In 2010 Carolyn was awarded a “Merit” for her M.Sc. in Educational Leadership and Management. She is currently writing an article derived from the Masters.
In 2011 Carolyn became the acting Head of Law whilst remaining Academic Director. She steered the school through the validation of a new Masters Award and has established links with local solicitors.
Although her main research interests lie in family law and education, has also co-authored ‘Test Yourself in Contract’.

Carolyn is happy to supervise students in any of her research areas.
