PhD Student

Muhammad Raheem Awan

Awan is currently undertaking his PhD in International Arbitration as a full time PhD student under the supervision of Dr Hakeem Seriki. His research focuses on investment treaty arbitration.

His doctoral research aims to critically examine the legal protection afforded to Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan.

Qualifications

  •  LLB - Punjab University Pakistan
  •  LLM in International Commercial Law - University of Bedfordshire

Research Interests

 Investment Treaty Arbitration, International Commercial Arbitration (especially enforcement of foreign arbitral awards) and International litigation.

Professional Background

Awan is a qualified and practicing advocate of the High Court of Pakistan with over seven years experience of appearing in the courts in relation to cases involving criminal, civil, and commercial issues.

He has appeared and acted in court proceedings on behalf of individual clients, state entities and commercial organisations.

Awan was appointed on to the panel of preferred advocates advising various government departments on behalf of the Ministry of Law and Justice of Pakistan.
