The Department is clearly focused on employability and relevance to the specific needs of the industries it serves.
This results in courses approved by professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, offering important exemptions from professional examinations.
Our student team, formed mainly of Department of Marketing students, was chosen as the winning team at the national Flux business competition and awarded £500 each from a competitive process involving 32 universities from across the UK.
These specific arrangements are enhanced by links with the broader business community at home and abroad.
And with teaching described by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) as ‘inspirational’, the Department takes pride in providing an imaginative learning experience.
One of our tutors, Neville Hunt, has recently been named ‘PR Professional of the Year 2008’ by the CIPR for his outstanding contribution to the PR industry. Our lecturers provide exciting and motivational approaches to teaching.
Achieved partly through links with the real world of employers, and partly through exciting new facilities that the Department is pioneering to foster creative thinking, students can expect to be inspired. Our unique Business Pods have been commended in a recent Government Green Paper as ‘best-practice’ within University teaching and learning.
