"I am Assistant Professor, and Head of the Marketing Department, at the National University of Science and Technology in Islamabad." ----
Zeenat Jabbar is carving out an impressive career as an academic in her home country of Pakistan.
She is currently working as an Assistant Professor, and Head of the International Business and Marketing Department at the National University of Science and Technology in Islamabad, Pakistan, one of the leading universities of South Asia.
Zeenat first came to Luton in 1999, after the completion of her first degree in Political Science and Sociology and with work experience for over three years in the oil and gas industry in Pakistan.
Whilst studying at Luton for her MBA in Marketing, she also worked in the University’s International Office, helping foreign students like herself, and organising student exchanges abroad.
Zeenat finished her MBA in 2001, and returned to Pakistan. She is now teaching courses on Brand Management, Consumer Behaviour and Entertainment Marketing and has been organising special seminars and workshops at the university.
She recently acted as course co-ordinator for a three-day workshop on International Defence Marketing and helped conduct a seminar on the Changing Role of Women in Management with an exciting programme of VIP speakers.
She looks back with pleasure on her Luton days. “It was a wonderful time – I met some great people and the time flew by.”
She found the contacts she made at Luton, were of great value in her career because of the strong links with other universities across the world. She also believes that she was recommended for the job at Islamabad due to the strong Luton ' Network'.
Most of all though, Zeenat remembers the quality of the teaching she received at Luton. “I had lovely teachers and now that I am doing the teaching I try to be like them” she said.
Interview took place in 2003.
