Joanne Wilder Harris

Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing

Joanne Wilder HarrisI qualified as a Mental Health Nurse at the University of Bedfordshire in 2010. Since then I have gained experience working in various clinical settings which include Inpatient recovery ward, Community Mental Health Teams, Crisis Teams and Triage. I have supported people who have suffered with mental health issues across the lifespan and have extensive experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services where I had the opportunity to train in psychological therapies.

I am committed to lifelong learning and believe that active participation in clinical supervision and reflective practice makes an important contribution to continued professional development. From very early on in my career I have mentored, supervised and assessed nursing students in practice. In addition to clinical experience I have worked in Practice Education supporting student nurses in placement. Most recently I have been involved in a pilot programme supporting newly qualified nurses in practice. I hope this experience will help me to support our student nurses through the transition from student to qualified professional.
