Michelle Dady

Lecturer in Children's Nursing

Michelle DadyI am a Registered Children’s Nurse and Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse. I have worked in the NHS for over 25 years. I qualified as a paediatric nurse at Hull University and since then I have worked at several trusts including York, Leeds and most recently Milton Keynes.

I have an interest in High Dependency care and I have also worked within Paediatric Intensive Care for a few years at Leeds Teaching Hospital. In 2015 I qualified as a Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse (PDSN) and worked at Milton Keynes Hospital as part of a small team caring for children living with Diabetes. As an experienced nurse I feel privileged to now be able to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of nurses. I am keen to develop lesson plans that have a variety of teaching styles including group work, discussions and reflection. I am particularly interested in using the stimulation suites to enhance the practical skills needed for clinical placement.

Teaching Expertise

I have always had a love of teaching and enjoy supporting students in placements. During my time as PDSN a large part of my role involved teaching and supporting clinical staff. I also had the opportunity to teach at the university as a visiting lecturer.

As part of my PDSN role I helped design a teaching programme for children living with diabetes. The programme was designed to support young people transitioning from children's services to adult services. The success of this initial project meant we secured additional funding to run the project for a further year.

For the last 2 years I have run my own first aid training company teaching all levels of first aid from children’s classes, parent classes and qualification courses.
