Research informed Teaching

As part of a University wide strategy, the RiT Project was introduced to maximise the impact of research on teaching in teaching intensive universities. The aims of the project included:

  • transforming students' learning experiences of research within and outside of the curriculum;
  • enhancing academic practice (including both research and teaching);
  • growing research skills and activities of staff as well as students;
  • supporting Heads of Departments (HoDs) in approaching and tackling research and teaching as strategically and practically integrated activities;
  • creating the conditions for thriving 'scholarly knowledge building communities'.

Within the Division of Performing Arts and English the RiT Project encouraged staff to collaborate and bid for internal and external funding that would help them to develop their practice, teaching and research in an informed and co-ordinated manner; a responsive scheme of small grants to support collaborative projects between the staff within the division was coordinated. The following projects were awarded funding:
