Lecturer in Dance
After completing my MA in European Dance Theatre Practice at Laban and working with professional dance practitioners for several years I was awarded a teacher Fellowship in Performing Arts were my career in Higher Education began.
This gave me invaluable experience of both performing and choreographing challenging dance-theatre work, which continues to be an area of expertise in both learning and teaching and research.
Qualifications
- MA European Dance Theatre Practice, Laban, London
- BA (Hons) Dance with Theatre, De Montfort University
Teaching Expertise
My approach to teaching is practice-based, through classes and workshops.
I specialise in European Dance Theatre Practice but I also teach Dance technique, Choreography, Improvisation, Interdisciplinary Dance-Theatre performance and contextual studies.
Research Interests
The focus of my research is practice-based research in dance and interdisciplinary dance-theatre performance.
- The first being movement analysis where I focus on exploring the creation of new movement by freeing the body from habitual and familiar patterns through improvisation.
- The second being the relationship between dance and technology and discovering new ways in which technology can be integrated into dance performance and the choreographic process.
