Charles Birtwisle

I graduated from the University of Leeds in 1990 with a BSc in Biochemistry and Microbiology. Having obtained a PGCE from Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education I taught physical education in both the state and private sectors for a number of years before entering Higher Education as a lecturer.

I have an MSc in Sport & Exercise Science from Brunel University and am currently completing a PhD at Loughborough University. I lecture in physical education and sport psychology and coordinate short courses and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) across the faculty.

Research Interests

  • I am currently undertaking a PhD supervised by the Loughborough University Centre for Research into Eating Disorders. The focus is on disordered eating and compulsive exercise across the transition from secondary to tertiary education.
