She has worked in education since 1980 when she gained a PGCE in Integrated Science from the Institute of Education, University of London.
She has taught in two comprehensive schools in North London and has held a number of leadership roles, including Head of Science and Senior Teacher with responsibility for professional development and newly qualified teachers.
For the last 9 years Jill has worked as a science adviser in Harrow, supporting both primary and secondary teachers to develop their practice and delivering CPD sessions. As an adviser, in addition to science, she was particularly interested in provision for Gifted and Talented pupils, assessment for learning and thinking skills.
Jill has led a number of research projects for teachers. These have included an Astrazeneca funded project to explore REAL contexts for enhancing science in primary schools and various action research projects with the Institute of Education, London, exploring effective models of CPD for science teachers.
