Jacqui Hart

Prior to enrolling at the UoB as a mature student, I worked in the manufacturing industry in various roles, the last of which was Human Resources officer. In 2003, the company closed and I was involved in the planning and implementation of the redundancy programme, before being made redundant myself. It was during this period that I became interested in how widely peoples’ reactions and behaviour can differ, even when facing similar circumstances (i.e. losing one’s job).

I decided that, rather than try to obtain another position in Human Resources, I would like to study psychology. I completed a BSc (Hons) degree at the UoB in 2007 and am now studying for a PhD. My current research examines the role of emotional intelligence and related concepts in the pathway between adverse childhood experience, psychological distress and offending behaviour.
