This instrument has been designed to measure one aspect of the psycho motor penomena of steadiness. Nine holes, gradually diminishing in size are used, and the participant's task is to hold the stylus in the hole without touching the sides. The effects on steadiness of variables such as exercise, handedness, smoking or alcohol can be tested.
