Dr Antigonos Sochos, Senior Lecturer
I am a research psychologist, having obtained my PhD degree from King's College, University of London. I have taught in the Open University, University of London, Kingston and Sussex Universities.
Research interests
My research interests focus on attachment and psychodynamic theories, primarily object relations, their integration with socio-cognitive models of psychopathology and interpersonal relationships, and psychotherapy research. My main work so far has been on the assessment of attachment representations and their role in psychopathology and psychotherapy outcome.
I am also interested in social disorganisation and the breakdown of social networks, particularly their impact on mental health and the quality of interpersonal relationships.
I have specialised in clinical research interviewing and transcript analysis, while I employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Teaching interests
My teaching interests include topics in clinical, developmental, and social psychology, as well as research methods. I also supervise under- and post-graduate dissertations in the above areas.
PhD and Research Supervision
I supervise research topics relating to the various aspects of parent-child and adult attachment, including their role in psychopathology and psychotherapy; the evaluation of psycho-social interventions; and the impact of socio-cultural factors on mental health.
