Isabella McMurray, Lecturer, Psychology Department Employability Fellow

I have been teaching and conducting research in the Department of Psychology at the University of Bedfordshire for the last 10 years. I have been fortunate to be involved in a number of research projects within the Social Sciences relating to families, as well as Teaching and Learning projects relating to the student experience and student employability. 

I have good ties with charities and organizations in the local community and conduct research and provide consultancy and training work locally.  

I am a member of the BPS section of Developmental Psychology and the BPS special group of Psychologist and Social Services. 

Teaching areas and Responsibilities

  • Bsc and Msc Research Methods and Analysis, particularly ethics
  • Developmental Psychology, particularly psycho-social development, parenting, developmental outcomes of looked after children and resilience approaches
  • Programme Manager for the Extended Degree in Psychology, and the Extended Degree in Psychology and Criminal Behaviour
  • Chair of the Psychology Department Ethics Committee.
  • Psychology Department Employability Fellow.

Consultancy and Training

  • I undertake consultancy work within and outside the University relating to research methods and analysis in the social sciences, including running staff development sessions, as part of Making Research Count and with the Psychology Department Consultancy and Training Unit.
  • I am a committee member on the Research Ethics board of Unilever, Colworth, Bedfordshire.
