PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons)
Lecturer in Forensic Science
After obtaining a BSc in molecular biology and genetics from Royal Holloway, University of London, Louisa completed an MSc in Forensic Science from London South Bank University which also included a project placement at the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham studying cell type identification.
Upon completion of her studies, she gained commercial experience as a forensic DNA analyst for LGC Forensics in Teddington, exposing her to volume crime casework with police forces in the south of England.
In collaboration with LGC Forensics, Louisa completed a PhD at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen studying body fluid identification and was appointed as a lecturer in Forensic Science by the University of Bedfordshire in September 2010.
Louisa’s recent research has focussed on body fluid identification using proteomics.
Primarily studying two body fluid types commonly found at crime scenes, isolating proteins specific to them as a way of determining their presence or absence.
