Lecturer/ Program manager in Nutritional Science
Dr Zhou obtained
his MBBS, MSc, and PhD in Harbin Medical
University, P.R. China.

After lecturing in Jia Musi Medical University for seven years, Dr Zhou became an associated professor at the National Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety, in the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in 1997. Dr Zhou worked at Manchester University (1999-2002), King’s College London in (2002-2006) and Aberystwyth University (2007).
Dr Zhou has conducted research on fatty acid and colon cancer, functional food and zinc nutrition, and has been awarded three grants from the Chinese Nature Scientific Foundation, Ministry of Health, and the Chinese Postdoctoral Scientific Foundation.
Dr Zhou has many specialist areas of interest, including applied proteomics in identifying adducted protein, and applied metabolomic techniques in nutritional metabolism research. He is collaborating with Professor John Beattie in Aberdeen University and working on zinc nutritional status biomarker which was funded by Food Standard Agency.
Dr Shaobo Zhou plans to expand upon his research, covering areas such as zinc biomarkers, and obesity with a focus on balanced diets, natural medicine/foods and functional foods in managing weight.
Dr Zhou’s teaches Clinical Dietetics, Human Nutrition, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Skills and Research Project.
Dr. Zhou is an Honorary Professor in Jia Musi University, P.R. China, a Visiting Research Fellow in King’s College London and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Aberdeen University.
Dr Zhou is a member of both British Nutrition Society and the British Society for Proteome Research.
