Employment-based Initial Teacher Training (EBITT) comprises
training programmes that allow trainees to work in a school and follow an
individual training programme leading to qualified teacher status (QTS).
The school pays the trainee as an unqualified teacher.
These programmes suit mature, well-qualified people who can quickly take on
teaching responsibilities and who need to earn a living while they train.
Many EBITT trainees have relevant experience in other sectors or in a support role in a school. Others are career changers who want to move into teaching. The three EBITT programmes offered by the University of Bedfordshire are described below:
If you are qualified as a teacher inside the EU, mobility laws apply and you can
access teaching positions in the same way as 'home' trained teachers.
If you are qualified as a teacher overseas and outside the EU, you may be eligible to work in England as a temporary teacher without qualified teacher status (QTS) for up to four years.
Once you have
found a teaching position in a school, the OTTP will provide you with your own
individual training and assessment programme which will ultimately lead to your
qualification to teach in England

The graduate teacher programme (GTP) is a programme of on-the-job
training allowing graduates to qualify as a teacher while they work.
It's a good choice for mature people who want to change to a teaching career but need to continue earning while they train.
Once on the programme your training will be tailored to your own individual needs and lead to qualified teacher status (QTS) read more
The self funded graduate teacher programme
is a programme for unqualified teachers working in schools to gain qualified
teacher status (QTS).
It is training programme without funding where a school
is willing to cover the full cost. The TDA will pay for the final QTS
