Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) with QTS in Physical Education, Business and IT, Brunel University
  • MSc in Coaching Science, Brunel University
  • FA Psychology for Football Level 5 award
  • UEFA B Licensed football coach

Apart from working for the University I am a coach/scout for Luton Town Football Club’s player development programme.

Teaching Expertise

I am the course leader for BSc Sport Science and Coaching and I lead all of the coaching units from level 1- 3 as well as at Masters level.

Research Interests

I have a number of research interests including:

  • coach education
  • the psychology of performance
  • talent ID and development.

External Roles

  • BASES network Rep for University of Bedfordshire.

Publications

  • Chapter on Talent ID and Development in a) Stafford Brown et al. (2007) BTEC National Sport: Development, Coaching and Fitness. And b) Stafford Brown et al. (2007) BTEC National Sport: Performance and Excellence.

Recent Funding Awards

  • £400 from UK Sport towards presenting at the 6th World Congress on Science and Football in Antalya, Turkey.
  • £2,000 from Team Beds & Luton for delivery of a coaching workforce development project; Using video to enhance reflective practice in experienced sport coaches.

Consultancy

  • Worked as a sport psychologist/performance adviser with a number of athletes in the following sports; football, skiing and athletics.
  • Feb-April 2010 – Coaching workforce development project for Team Beds & Luton. Using video to enhance reflective practice in experienced sport coaches.
