Business 'Pods'

The Pods - Simulating a Real Business Environment for Higher Education

Students working in the Pod

The term, ‘Business Pod’ has become synonymous with the radical redesign of the first year business programme.

This includes all stage one undergraduate Luton campus students.

After successfully passing this, they will then proceed to specialise in their chosen fields which are:

  • Advertising and Marketing Communication
  • Business Studies
  • Business Decision Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Marketing
  • Public Relations

The unit is more correctly titled the Business Integrated Core Unit. It offers students with a set of business problems for which they are required to find a solution, by applying various aspects of business theory.

The Business Pods provide a simulated real-work environment so students are studying and 'working' at the same time. This revolutionary learning method not only equips our students with the skills today's employers want, but it makes learning more relevant, and from the student perspective, more enjoyable.

The aim is to give all business students a thorough understanding of the interrelated and integrated nature of business activity. This they will have to understand once they embark upon their careers.
