Fee Grant and Course Grant

If you’re a part-time higher education student, you may be able to get a Fee Grant and a Course Grant. EU students can apply for a Fee Grant but not a Course Grant.

The Fee Grant can help towards your tuition fees. The Course Grant is there to help towards other study costs - such as books, materials and travel.

These grants are non-repayable, which means you do not have to pay them back once you have completed your studies.

Enter 'part-time EU students' in the search box at www.direct.gov.uk to find guidance notes, country specific information and application forms.

EU students need to make their application on form EUPTG1.

Am I Eligible?

To apply for the Fee Grant and Course Grant your course must:

  • last at least one year
  • be a higher education course leading to a qualification such as a Certificate or Diploma of Higher Education, an HNC or HND, or a first degree up to Honours level (for example, a BA or BSc)
  • not take more than twice as long to complete as the equivalent full-time course

Additional Fee Support Scheme

The Additional Fee Support Scheme is for low income part-time undergraduate students where statutory fee support is insufficient to meet the full tuition fee, which could prevent the student from accessing and remaining in Higher Education because of financial hardship.

Please see the Additional Fee Support Scheme guidance notes for more information.

Am I Eligible?

EU students can apply to the AFSS if they receive the full statutory fee grant from their LA.

Enquiries can be made to the Student information Desk (SiD).
