Full–time UK Students 2010/11 entry

Student Maintenance Loan – 'Living cost loan'

UK and EU students can apply for a UK Government loan The amount that you will receive is based upon your household income.

Student loans of up to £4,950 per year are available for students living away from home, and for those students who are living at home during their studies, up to £3,838 is available per year.

The loan is repayable, which means that after you have left university, and when you are earning over £15,000 you will begin making repayments.

Student Tuition Fees Loan

Students can borrow all or part of their tuition fees from the Student Loans Company (SLC).

The SLC will pay the fee directly to the University on the student's behalf.

This loan is repaid by the student, once they have completed their studies and are earning a minimum of £15,000.

The new tuition fee system for UK/EU students means that neither you or your parents have to pay the fees up front – it’s pay as you earn, not pay as you learn!
