Safety and Security

Happy parents with their daughter

The Safety and Security for your son or daughter will undoubtedly be a key concern for you. It is always important for your son or daughter to take care, where ever they live. Here at the University of Bedfordshire we provide a safe and secure environment in which to live and study.

To ensure that our students are as safe as possible we offer:

  • Hall Wardens in the student accommodation to deal with any student concerns or issues
  • Security patrols and call-outs
  • Secure electronic entry system for the accommodation and CCTV covering the exterior of buildings
  • Each flat has its own unique door key to maximise security
  • 24 hour security service provided
  • Pedestrian entrances are overseen by security guards on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Students with ID cards are issued with gate-swipe cards
  • Well-lit campuses
  • Personal attack alarms given to new students

To maximise safety and security off campus, we encourage students to do the following:

  • Always lock windows and doors before leaving the house/Halls
  • Don’t leave valuables on display or unattended around the campus
  • Take out insurance to cover valuable items
  • Walk in groups at night, travel by taxi or stay with a friend
  • Use cash machines wisely and be aware of who’s around
