Step eight - applying for your visa

Applying for your visa

More information on applying for a visa (including videos showing how to complete the forms)

The earliest you can apply for your visa is three months before your course is due to start. For example if your course is due to start on 26 September, you may apply for your visa on the 26 June or after. If you apply earlier than this three month period, your application will be refused. Your CAS is valid for six months only.

Applying for a student visa to study in the U.K. is your personal responsibility. The University does not make this application for you. The International Student Support team can offer you guidance and advice, but it is your responsibility to read all the application guidelines carefully and to fill out the form correctly. You must ensure that you answer all of the questions that apply to you on the application, and that you provide the necessary and exact evidence requested. Please read the instructions regarding required maintenance extremely carefully. Mistakes can be made particular when providing bank statements, invalid evidence and not meeting the 28 days requirement.

Finally please remember to submit your visa application within the correct time frame of your course start date. It can take up to two months to process a visa application and therefore it is important that you are organised and prepared. Please do not rush your visa application as this may cause careless mistakes which can result in your application being refused.

Please read the instructions and guidelines carefully when applying for your visa to avoid a visa refusal - watch our videos about how to complete the forms.
