Step ten - Arrival, orientation and registration

Arrival, orientation week and registration

At the airport

We offer either a meet and greet service or an airport pick-up (depending on demand) for new international students, which will help you when you first arrive in the UK. For more information regarding this service please contact the Student Support Team by email at advice.international@beds.ac.uk

Orientation and registration

Once you have settled into your accommodation, you will be expected to attend orientation week and register with the University. You will have all information regarding this in your pre-arrival pack and if you have any further questions the International Office staff will be happy to help you. There are plenty of staff and student ambassadors around on campus to help new students but you should make every effort to be organised and attend all of the orientation talks and events - many of which are compulsory for new international students.

You must attend registration. Registration is based on campus and there are various steps that you must complete during the registration process but staff and student helpers are on hand to help guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. In your pre-arrival pack are details of when and where you need to register.

What do I need to bring to registration?

When registering with the International Admissions Team you will be asked to provide your CAS letter, your passport and student visa, and your original documents. To know which original certificates and qualifications you will need to bring with you to registration, please look at your CAS letter and unconditional offer letter. They are clearly marked on both letters. For example if you had the following on your CAS letter, then you must bring the original certificates to registration:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science – Certificate, University of Delhi

Do not forget that your passport, visa, CAS letter and original academic documents have to be checked in order for you to register, and that without these documents we cannot proceed with your registration. We do not accept photocopies of these documents.

When registering with the Finance department it is also important to know that if you paid 50% of your tuition fees, then you will be required to pay a further 15% on the day of Registration, this will mean that in total you will pay 65% of tuition fees on the day of registration. You must pay this further 15% on the day of registration or you will not be permitted to register and receive your ID card.

After paying the further 15% you are permitted to pay the remaining amount of your tuition fees within a maximum of five installments. You can arrange the details of this with the Finance department.

If you choose to pay the remainder of your fee on the day of registration, you still qualify for the early payment discount on your tuition fees.

Once you have registered you are confirmed as a student at the University of Bedfordshire. After the week of orientation and registration your classes will begin. We wish you the best of luck in studying at the University and hope that you have a wonderful experience at our institution. The International Office is here for you to help in any way we can so please do not hesitate to visit the office or email us if you require information, assistance or support.
