Natalia Fomina

Natalia Fomina from the Ukraine has always wanted to study abroad. She knew it would be a life-changing experience, but wasn’t sure what to expect at Luton.

Natalia admits now she had nothing to fear and loves the diverse mix she has found at Luton. She finds it very exciting, and feels it has added to her learning experience.

She said: “The diverse population is a real benefit to the town. As an international student it helped me feel less isolated, and it gave me the confidence to get more involved in university life”, she said.

“I chose to come to England, because a British education is recognised throughout the world and I also wanted to study at a modern university. I applied to several universities and Luton replied quickly. Everyone was really kind and helpful..”

The 23-year-old added that she particularly likes the learning resources Centre, which is really well laid out and has a superb variety of books. She said: “The lecturers give superb advice and guidance towards practical examples which will be used in the workplace.”.

Natalia would like to study for her Master’s after completing her degree and then work in the biomedical field in the UK.

She travels to Luton from Milton Keynes, where she is staying with her Aunt, and she has made the most of the facilities on her doorstep. She is a keen dancer and takes jive classes every week. She is impressed by the Xscape leisure dome where she uses the skiing facilities.

Natalia added: “Living in Milton Keynes is very convenient because Luton is only a short journey away. I also take part in a number of activities in Luton including a class in conversational English, which the University offers.”
