International
My name is Qing Qing and I come from the south west of China. I have been a student at the university for almost two years now and I am studying a Masters in Applied Linguistics.
I'm really enjoying my course because it combines the theory and practical together, for example last semester we learned the theory behind language systems.
This Masters gives us the opportunity to apply our learned knowledge into teaching practice and to carry out our own research which is very interesting and also a big challenge!
The university also has a very interesting social scene, we have a coffee house in the chaplaincy that is great for all international students to meet up and make new friends.
There are also events put on for the international students, last year I was invited by a local family for dinner and to have a chat and practice my English. It also gave me an insight into their family life and culture and how they are on a daily basis.
It is very different working on my Masters to my degree, we only have 15 students in the class!
