Khaled Al Mazrooei from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is half way through his course in Business and Accounting at the University of Luton.
His dream is to work in the international stock market of the UAE. It is not surprising that the 22-year-old has high ambitions. He is the son of Mohammed Salim Al Mazrooei, the Secretariat General of the Federal National Council (FNC) - one of the most prominent figures in UAE politics who is responsible for, organising parliament, being the authority on laws and constitutional reform and leading parliament.
Khaled joined the University of Luton after completing a Diploma in Accounting at a Higher College of Technology in Abu Dhabi. He said: “My college course was very interesting and I did very well in my subjects.
“This allowed me to enter my degree course in the second year when I came to Luton. I am enjoying my course as it provides a blend of individual study and group-work and is giving me the skills required to get into the financial sector.”
The 22-year-old chose to study at the University of Luton after his father met representatives from Luton and spoke about their impressive presentation. From here he found out more about the University and felt it was the right choice for him.
After completing his course, Khaled would like to stay on at Luton to study a Master’s in Finance and Business Management to help him secure a job in the international stock market in the UAE.
In his spare time, Khaled is very active and regularly goes to the gym. He is also a keen footballer. When he is not exercising he enjoys socialising with friends at one of the many coffee shops in the town.
Khaled enjoys travelling and plans to visit different countries in Europe during his inter-semester break. He would also like to take advantage of Luton’s good transport links and see different parts of the UK whilst he is studying here.
He said: “Living in a town with an airport makes it very convenient to travel around Europe, and living beside the mainline railway provides easy access to the capital.”
