Sahar Omar has recently finished an MSc in Marketing and Business Management
Sahar Omar settled into student life in the UK quickly and described the opportunity to study at Luton as ‘a dream come true’.
She worked as a web designer and a sales and marketing assistant in her home city of Lahore before coming to Luton.
The Pakistani-born graduate, who finished an MSc in Marketing and Business Management last month, described the UK education system as the ‘best in the world’ and has enjoyed studying here.
She said: “The course is practical and focuses on the skills required in the work environment. A lot of emphasis is placed on group work and time management, which is essential when working in industry.”
The 27-year-old decided to study at Luton because she was able to start her course in February, and because of the in-depth course content, its closeness to London and its excellent transport links.
Sahar said the course helped refine her research skills and to carry out critical analysis of articles. It also helped her to multi-task and analyse her own strengths and weaknesses.
The graduate was impressed with the level of support offered to international students when they arrive in Luton.
She said: “The staff are really friendly and are used to the challenges that international students face. They helped to arrange my visa to work in the UK, provided travel advice, helped me find a job and supported me when I needed to open a bank account.”
In her spare time, Sahar enjoys cooking, reading, relaxing and travelling. She has already visited many parts of the UK and Europe including Paris, Switzerland and Italy. She is happily married to Omar and says he as been a great support to her during her course.
Looking to the future she would like to start her career as a marketing assistant or in on-line media sales. She would like to work in the UK for a few years before eventually returning to Pakistan.
