Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

ENGLISH LANGUAGE

For entry to the IFP, Undergraduate or Postgraduate programmes, excluding the Pre-Master Foundation programme all students must show evidence of English to the standards listed below.

  • IELTS 6.0
  • TOEFL -paper based 550 or computer based 213 or internet based 80
  • English O level - grades A-C
  • Advanced Cambridge Diploma or Certificate Grades A-C

ACADEMIC

Undergraduate Programmes

Extended Bachelor Degree (4 years)

This is a 4 year programme taught in full at the University of Bedfordshire. The first year is a bridging foundation year. For entry to this 4 year programme you will need:

  • IELTS 5.0 or  equivalent TOEFL
Bachelors Degree (3 years)
  • Students must have Five " O" Levels and Three " A" Levels with Credit pass
  • Students applying for an undergraduate programme in Media, Art & Design must provide evidence of interest and ability in subject area normally through a portfolio of work
  • Credit transfer arrangements may be possible on an individual case basis ( outside of agreed partner institutional arrangements)
  • A student with a good result after 2 years of study, who has completed the appropriate subjects, may be considered for Level 2, Semester 1 entry
  • Students successfully completing 3 years (of a 4 year degree programme) with a good result may be considered for a Level 2, Semester 2 entry

Postgraduate Programmes

Masters Degree (1 year)
  • Students must show evidence of reaching the standards (mentioned below) before they can be made an offer for entry to any taught postgraduate programmes offered by the university
Subject Area - MBA
  • Length of previous degree should be 3 or more years in any subject area
  • A minimum of 65%+ from a 3 year degree programme or 50% from a 4 year degree programme
  • 3 or more years of full-time managerial work experience required
  • Students with a 50% + from a 3 year degree programme may be considered if they have additional qualification or more than 4 years of work experience
Subject Area - Advanced Computing
  • Length of previous degree should be 3 or more years in computing or computer engineering (focus needs to be computing and not engineering)
  • A minimum of 65%+ in the previous degree
  • 55% would be accepted from a 4 year bachelor's degree
  • Students with a background in computing can be considered for MSc in Computing & Internet Applications
  • Students with high order programming skills can be considered for MSc Computer Science
Subject Area - Conversion Computing
  • Length of previous degree should be 3 or more years in areas other than computing or computer engineering
  • A minimum of 65%+ in the previous degree
  • Students with a non-computing background need to demonstrate some computing knowledge, e.g. diploma programme
  • Most appropriate programmes are the MSc in Applied Computing & IT
Subject Area - LLM
  • Length of previous degree should be a minimum of three year LLB
  • A minimum of 55% + would be considered if a student has an additional degree
  • Students would also be expected to have a minimum of 1 year work experience in the legal profession
  • Students with only a 3 year LLB should normally have an additional degree or lengthy work experience in the legal profession
All other areas
  • 3 or more years in any subject area
  • 65%+ in a 3 year degree or 55%+ in a 4 year degree
  • Students applying for a programme in Media must have a first degree in Media or related area
Research Degrees
  • All research applications should be referred to the University for a decision
