Hello, my name is Uru-on and I come from Thailand and I'm studying the MA Intercultural Communications at the University of Bedfordshire. The reason I chose the University was due to the course as the community workplace has become so multi-cultural and the need of multi-cultural skills is rising.
I really like my course because the lecturer is very friendly and as we study in a small group we can have a lot of time for discussion which gives me the opportunity to discuss ideas that I'm interested in. This is very different from Thailand as the teachers there specify the topics to discuss whereas here the teaching method is very different, which is a very good thing.
The University environment gives you the chance to study with many different students from around the world. The facilities here are very good, the library is open until 2am and has a lot of good books and materials to help with my study. There is a big IT suite and also a social space for group meetings, they also provide online resources which allow me to study from home. When I'm studying from home I can complete an assignment and then send it off to the lecturer very easily. Also, in case you miss a lecture your lecturer can provide study notes and learning materials via the online resources.
The University campus is in the heart of the town and has easy access to the shops and town centre. There are also a lot of activities to do here, the student union provides many clubs and societies as well as the community of the chaplaincy. You don't have to worry that you may feel lonely!
As I am studying at the University the government can provide international students with a work permit for up to 2 years after I graduate, which is a good opportunity for me. I think I would like to work here for a while before I go back home.
I would like to recommend the University of Bedfordshire to Thai students because the University provides a good environment to study with very friendly lecturers.
