Guidance On Safety

We would like your stay in the UK to be safe and smooth as possible. Here are some simple tips you can follow which will ensure your stay in the UK is safe.

Top Tips on Safety

  • Keep your passport in a safe place. Keep a photocopy of your passport and keep a record of the passport number. If you lose your passport report it to the police immediately. If possible, we recommend you scan a copy of your passport and email it to yourself.
  • Avoid carrying large amounts of cash with you. Open a bank account as soon as you arrive in the UK.
  • Carry credit cards and debit cards in a safe place.
  • Always use a licensed taxi. Licensed taxis have an official plate attached to the back of the car.
  • Insure your belongings - contact The British Insurance Brokers’ Association at www.biba.org.uk
  • Lock outside doors even when you are at home.
  • Ensure your house/flat has a smoke alarm.
  • Do not walk on your own on the streets late at night and avoid using cash machines on your own late at night.
