The University of Bedfordshire is a significant provider of Dance, with a fast growing reputation nationally and internationally for innovative industry-focused programmes and world-leading research. Due to expansion within the area of Dance, the University of Bedfordshire wishes to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Dance to lead our highly successful BA(Hons) Dance & Professional Practice programme.
You will have a good first degree and postgraduate degree in a relevant subject, a PhD or equivalent research/professional practice record. You are a highly skilled dance practitioner with excellent links to industry. You are highly motivated by and skilled in practice-led approaches to dance pedagogy, scholarship and research. You will have a well developed area of research/professional practice expertise in at least one of the following areas: dance performance, choreography, dance pedagogy.
You can also offer subject expertise in at least two of the following: dance technique, choreography, improvisation, performance, dance and entrepreneurship, practice-led research methodologies, screen-dance or dance and technology.
You will contribute teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
You will support and develop Divisional research and enterprise activity, drawing on your previous experience within the Higher Education context.
Performing Arts within the University of Bedfordshire is concentrated on the state-of-the-art Bedford Campus and currently offers degree courses and postgraduate research in Dance, Performing Arts and Theatre. The University has recently developed purpose built Performing Arts facilities which include a 280-seat theatre, a theatre studio and a suite of dance studios. The theatre offers professional seasons of touring performance during the academic year at the University of Bedfordshire Theatre and provides many opportunities for national and international engagement in research, scholarship and professional practice.
