2011: The year for a Knowledge boost

2011 is set to be a good year as we announce our extensive range of internationally recognised training and continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities, scheduled for the next 12 months. Our courses are aimed at managers, staff and business owners who wish to develop their professional skills and acquire new qualifications to improve performance. Some of the highlights include the ITILV3® Foundation Course, PRINCE2® project management and MSP™ Programme Management, and ISMM Sales and Marketing Management. For full details of the training courses and qualifications on offer, click here.

Can you manage?

We offer a range of qualifications aimed at those considering a move (or who have recently moved) into a management role. The CMI Level 5 Award in Leadership & Management is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute and provides delegates with the skills they need to perform effectively in such a role. Green resolutions for 2011

The Knowledge Network’s 2011 programme starts with ‘Sustainability, Buildings and People’, an event bound to be of interest to the construction and engineering sectors, as well as local business and the public. The event will provide a useful insight into the principles of sustainable building technology, as well as simple solutions for energy efficiency.  Speakers include Anil Virji, Partner and Environmental Officer at Pictons Solicitors in Luton, and David Jazzani, Construction Link Tutor and Senior Lecturer at the University. Top tips for great office Christmas parties:

1.    Budget. Make sure you know what your budget is for the event and ensure that you allow for some contingency within the figures. Christmas parties can be tax free, so long as they are open to all staff and a maximum of £150 is spent per employee.

2.    Time management. If you are struggling to find the time to organise the party, there are venue finding companies who will help to find you the Christmas party venue and negotiate rates on your behalf without charging your company for their service.

3.    Entertainment. Dancing is a must for the Christmas Party and if you have budget restrictions then a disco is more cost effective than a band. Other successful ideas are a fun casino, Giant Wii and simulators, rock-a-oke bar, indoor laser clays and archery.

4.    Shared nights. If you are a fairly small group a shared party may be a better option. If you pick a mid week night you will often receive better discounts than a Thursday- Saturday.

5.    Deadlines. Save the date should be e-mailed out ASAP. Guests’ menu choices should be returned to you ideally within ten days on the party so you can send to the venue one week prior.
