It may soon be Valentine’s Day, but isn’t it time you showed your computer a bit of love too? Clean Out Your Computer Day takes place on February 14th and we’ve got ten great tips for speeding up your system...
1. Review your programs:
It is easy to start accumulating unwanted programs that you rarely use. We recommend that you review and uninstall any programs that you don’t use.
2. Clear out temporary files:
Whenever you visit a website, some files are saved to your computer to make it easier and faster when visiting that site again. You can use the inbuilt tools on your computer to clean up your internet files.
3. Update anti-virus & anti-spyware software:
If you’re using the internet or email we would highly recommend that you have anti-virus, anti-spyware and malware software loaded onto your computer and regularly update them.
4. Regularly run ‘Windows Update’:
It’s also important that you install all the latest security-related updates otherwise you are open to hackers; you can set Windows to update automatically.
5. Duplication of information:
If you save files to your computer to work on, plus you also have the same document saved as an attachment in an email, you’re doubling the amount of storage space taken up on your computer. Be vigilant on what you save and remember, delete old ‘Sent Items’ too.
