Course Design

Effective course design helps support learner development and the achievement of expected outcomes. It involves considering how teaching and learning develops across the various stages of a student’s course to foster the development of knowledge, skills and abilities and their aapplication to complex real world situations.  Key aspects of course design covered here are:

• CRe8 - the University's curriculum framework designed to help and support effective learning. 
• SOAR – part of the CRe8 framework focussing on helping learners make connections.
• Internationalisation – enabling students to contribute to the global society.
• Employability – preparing students to be in control of their own life-wide and life-long experiences.
• Assessment for learning – the central role of assessment in learner development.
• Course and Unit Information forms (CIFs and UIFs) – how we define the curriculum.
• Level descriptors - how we know we are delivering and assessing to the right level.
• Foundation degrees – which have specialist requirements.
• HEAR – the Higher Education Achievement Report.
