Today’s Daily Mail (15 July 2005) has published a story on page 2 naming two individuals who they have associated with the terrible incidents in London.
The story went on to imply that one or both individuals, from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, were previously students of the University of Luton.
We wish to make clear that we have no record of either of these people, and have checked all the variations of the names quoted across today’s national press.
We have asked the Daily Mail for an apology and retraction and are seeking legal advice on this matter.
The University of Luton has a harmonious and multicultural staff and student community and we work hard to safeguard and protect that harmony.
Professor Les Ebdon
Vice Chancellor
