Six high-flying business managers from the Fujian Province in China were invited to meet the University of Luton’s Vice Chancellor Professor Les Ebdon for a spot of lunch.

The six, who are all studying Masters Degrees at the University of Luton, are sponsored by the Fumin Foundation, a trust set up by the Fujian Province to encourage students to study in the UK and, in particular, at Luton.

Professor Ebdon said: “I recently visited the Fumin Foundation in Fuzhou, capital city of the Fujian Province, where we signed a partnership agreement to allow students to come to the University of Luton.

“I was therefore delighted to be able to welcome the first group of students to Luton and have a chat over lunch. They are all high-flying professionals in their respective organisations and chose to study a Masters Degree to build on their successful careers.

“The University of Luton has an excellent reputation internationally for the high quality of our teaching and we welcome hundreds of overseas students every year, in particular, from China where we have strong connections. We are looking forward to another five students arriving from the Fujian Province in September. We are also developing links with Fuzhou University and Xiamen University in the Province in South China,” he added.

The six students who met the Vice Chancellor for lunch were: Wang Kun (Ken), Fujian Provincial Government; Shen Qingfa (Frank), Xiamen Agricultural Bureau; Chen Xing (Star), Fujian People's Congress; Dai Zhiwang (Dell), Xiamen Information Bureau; Ye Min (Michael), Fuzhou Supervisory Committee; and Wu Qiaoping (Jully), Xiamen Daily.
