France and Holland may have said ‘no’ to the European Constitution but the University of Luton was saying a definite ‘yes’ to its own European agreement this week, after signing a new deal with a German Management and Business College.
The agreement will allow German business administration students from the Management and Business Akademie Mainz, to study their final year at the University of Luton.
Diane Haertrich and Wolfgang Haertrich from the College, in the wine-growing region of Rheinland Pfalz, visited the University of Luton to meet Professor Paul Burns, Dean of the University’s Business School, and Ann Mathews, Head of Business and Marketing.
Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Professor Burns said: “This is another step forward for the University of Luton in building links with other colleges and universities around Europe.
“More and more students are realising the benefits of studying part of their degree in another country because it helps improve their fluency in a particular language, and also gives them an insight in to how business is carried out in that country. We are really looking forward to working with our German partners and welcoming their students to Luton.”
The University already has strong links with an advertising college in Hamburg whose students come to Luton to complete their final year in advertising and communications.
And there are plans to sign an additional agreement with a college in Dortmund to allow PR students to complete their final year at the University of Luton, with other agreements being negotiated with Universities in Poland, Lithuania and Gran Canaria.
