The University of Luton will hold an Open Evening for its BA (Hons) Education Studies Programme, on Monday 21st March at 5.00pm at its Putteridge Bury Campus.

The course is designed for those currently working within school support roles, such as Nursery Nurses or Teaching Assistants, who are contemplating a career in teaching.

After a brief presentation about the course, staff will be available to answer any questions about the course and career opportunities.

Acting Head of Education Studies, Pat Foulkes, said: “Open evenings are a great way to find out more about the course content and to have an informal chat with the lecturers.

“Our degree programme has been very successful to date, and there are no less than three head teachers working in Luton and the surrounding areas, who have graduated from the University. We are very proud of their achievements and look forward to training the next generation of teachers.”

The degree combines lectures with practical application in the classroom, and has been designed to allow students to build on their existing competencies. Sessions are delivered outside school hours - one evening a week, some Saturdays and possibly one day a week - so students can participate without giving up their jobs, normally over a three-year period.
