International business has just become a bit of dating game in the East of England.
Small companies are being urged to sign up with the KEEP project, which will find them the perfect partners to help with global trading.
The companies will then be introduced to their ideal overseas graduates at a unique networking event ‘International Trade: The Graduates for Global Growth’, at the Putteridge Bury Management Centre on April 12.
The event has been organised by the University of Luton in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment.
The aim is for overseas graduates to provide small businesses, looking to trade abroad, with an insight into the social and business culture of their target country. They can also provide business language skills, market and literature research to identify and prioritise markets, and translation services. The preparation of marketing material, organisation of visits to the target market, and their personal skills and expertise within their specialised field are also on offer.
The partnering services are provided by KEEP- – Knowledge Partners East of England – a project which is managed by the University of Luton and its partners. KEEP has been running for only six months and already more than 20 companies have signed up.
The service costs £1,200 per month, which provides an expert for the equivalent of half a day each week and a full-time graduate for three to six months.
Tim Priestman, University of Luton’s Associate Director, Business Development, said: “If small businesses are interested in finding new markets, increasing their export capabilities or tackling their current overseas market more effectively, then this is the event for them – it makes best use of networking by pre-matching graduates to their needs.
“Time is precious, so we filter potential overseas graduates to ensure they can meet individuals who match their requirements and companies have the opportunity to review CVs before the event.”
Regional International Trade Adviser for UK Trade & Investment, Stephen Scowcroft, said: “There are 15,000 international students studying in the East of England and we want to create opportunities for business to tap into this expertise, in order to improve international trade capability. This kind of event helps us do just that.”
The University of Luton, in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment, the British Council and the East of England Development Agency, is offering this unique networking event at the Putteridge Bury Management Centre, near Luton, on April 12, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
To register for the event visit the website: www.globalgrowth.org.uk or call 0800 328 5334 for further information.
The KEEP project is funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund and the East of England Development Agency. KEEP partners are the University of Luton, the University of Hertfordshire, Cranfield University, Anglia Polytechnic University, Writtle College, Open University and Norwich School of Art and Design.
