The University of Luton’s Knowledge Network is launching a series of new networking sessions and masterclasses this autumn, aimed at the care, engineering and construction sectors.
The latest sessions follow a successful 12 months which saw more than 200 companies benefiting from training and advice by industry experts.
Project manager Gary Kirby believes the latest line-up will attract even more firms this year. He said: “We’ve had an excellent first year and now we are extending the invitation to those in the care, construction and engineering sectors to our launch events.
“With more funding now secured from the ESF, we plan to develop a programme of sector networks which will address the specific needs of SMEs in the Luton and Bedfordshire area. We’ll also be working closely with other networks and organisations to ensure that we have an integrated approach to networking.”
The network aims to bring business people together to share common business problems, learn new business skills, identify key issues and developments and build a community of common purpose.
Some of the speakers lined up include Marcial Echenique, Professor of Architecture at Cambridge University; James Buxton, Chairman of the CBI in the Eastern region; Sir David Trippier, former Minister for Small Business and Housing, and Professor Mike Gregory CBE, Professor of Manufacturing & Engineering at Cambridge University.
The University of Luton’s Visiting Professor of Enterprise, Alan Barrell, who recently received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion, will lead a number of the forthcoming masterclasses.
Two sessions will take place on 26 October - the first for the engineering sector will run from 9.30am-12.30pm, with an afternoon session for the care sector from 2.00-5.00pm. An additional event for the construction industry will run on 27 October from 9.30am–12.30pm.
