Businesses are being invited to take a drive up the M1 motorway to the University of Luton for a series of workshops and taster sessions for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), in the manufacturing, engineering, science and technology sectors.
The University, in partnership with Cranfield University, has set up the M1 Knowledge Exchange, which offers free or heavily subsidised sessions that are designed to appeal to companies situated along the M1 corridor or the East of England.
Sue Whittaker, Account Director of the M1 Knowledge Exchange, said: “All the sessions enable businesses to gain access to leading edge research, so they can arm themselves with information and really concentrate on the future development of their company. They are a focal point for businesses to access knowledge, best practise and the Universities’ expertise.”
A successful two-day workshop on ‘Manufacturing Customer Contact Skills for Technologies’ took place at the University of Luton’s Putteridge Bury campus on September 13 and 14. Sue Whittaker was delighted with the turn out. She said: “Our first session was well-attended and the feedback was excellent. This is a great start and we hope that firms will take advantage of future workshops.”
A one-day workshop entitled ‘Financial Accounting for Scientists, Technologists and Technical Entrepreneurs’ takes place on 4 October, with an additional workshop on Management Accounting being held on 5 October. Both sessions will take place at the University of Luton’s Putteridge Bury campus.
