Business experts from around Luton will be coming together to share their knowledge with entrepreneurs wishing to start up a new business.

Those wishing to set up or improve a venture can get sound business advice by tapping into the University of Luton’s in-depth knowledge bank at the Exploring Enterprise event at Bury Park Community Resource Centre, on Monday 24 April.

Professionals will also be on hand from the world of insurance, law and accountancy and mentors will be available to provide information on subjects such as being an environmentally responsible business and an introduction to professional services.

Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Manager, Karen Wood, is leading the project. She said: “The University won funding from UK Business Incubation (UKBI) to provide this dedicated start-up business support programme, to complement the workshops that have already been delivered in the neighbourhood renewal areas of Dallow and Biscot, in Luton.

“These workshops were a great success, and now thanks to this funding, we can continue offering this much-needed service to people who have a great business idea but need advice and support to make it happen.”

Enterprise in the Community aims to assist 50 companies in their quest to begin or improve their enterprise. It will provide workshops, training, business development ideas, business needs assessments, networking opportunities, facilities hire a tenancy option at the University’s own Luton and Dunstable Innovation Centre as well as dedicated business advice.

Companies can sign up to receive a support package from the University at the Enterprise event, including a range of training workshops right through to an option to rent office space.

Each company will be offered the level of business support that is relevant to their situation, ranging from fairly basic enterprise workshops and working through different training and support packages as required.

Exploring Enterprise gets underway at 2pm. For further information or to confirm attendance, contact Karen Wood or 01582 743169 or email karen.wood@luton.ac.uk.
