Luton FM, the University of Luton's own radio station, is back on the airwaves for another season and plans to put new music first.
The student team running the station will be playing music by up-and-coming artists, as well as new music by established artists and bands.
Broadcasting begins on Saturday 29 April on 87.9 FM for four weeks, and station manager Stephanie Jones hopes that people across Luton will tune in.
She said: “We are very excited about the format this year and we hope that people around Luton will tune in to hear some great new music as well as some old favourites. Luton FM gives students a brilliant opportunity to learn how to run a radio station and some of our ex presenters include Matt Fisher and Dan Prior who now work at London station XFM."
This year’s format features a number of specialist programmes which will be aired at 6pm every evening. These will include talk shows and individual music shows. The talk shows will cover issues affecting the local community and specialist shows will play everything from rock and punk, to R ’n’ B and Soul.
Stephanie added: “The station has been going for more than eight years and, thanks to the Internet, we will broadcasting around the world on www.lutonfm.net. It’s great for the students and for the local community.”
