A project at the University of Luton, which provides free staff training for local based small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is now entering its final phase for Luton companies and the University’s Project Team wants to sign up new delegates for the final round of courses.
The ‘New Skills for the Information Age’ project provides free training in a range of areas including people skills, time management, team building, information computer technology (ICT), project management, website design skills and more.
The training, which is free of charge thanks to funding from the European Social Fund (ESF), has been well received by local businesses such as Remdex UK, based in Luton, which has taken full advantage of this opportunity, ensuring that its staff’s skills are very much up to the minute.
Derek Hardy, Managing Director of Remdex UK, said: “I positively encourage all staff to take advantage of any training opportunities as it benefits the individual and naturally, the company reaps the rewards as well.
“The University provided the opportunity for free training in areas which are of particular interest to our staff, IT Skills and People Skills, so we have really taken advantage of it.
"A variety of staff have gone to the daytime People Skills courses but, because the IT skills course is in the evening, we all go to together and it has turned into quite a social event!” (www.remdexuk.com)
Project Manager, Sarah Waller, explained: "There is still time for companies to sign up for the courses but they must move quickly so as not to miss out completely on this unique opportunity.
"For Luton companies, the courses are due to finish in May so those interested should apply by the end of March. The project continues for companies in Herts, Beds and Cambs."
