Symphonia maestro has the French connection

The music of France is set to fill the air in Hitchin this Sunday evening when local violinist Peter Bussereau, along with Chinese pianist Wing Yun Wu, perform a number of pieces by French composers.

The French Connection concert, will include Cesar Franck’s popular violin sonata, Ravel’s exotic Tzigane and melodies from Bizet’s Carmen woven into Fantasy by Franz Waxman.

The night will also feature the world-premiere of the violin sonata by Luton-based composer, Michael Miller, a former French teacher, who has a surprising inspiration for his sonata which will be revealed on the night.

Peter Bussereau, from Baldock, has travelled the world playing his violin, and has appeared on British, German, American and Japanese television and radio. He is the Artistic Director for the Symphonia Academica, the University of Luton’s resident orchestra.

Hong Kong born Wing Yun Wu, who was young musician of the year in Hong Kong, has appeared with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed recitals at the Purcell Room, Fairfield Hall and Wigmore Hall.

The concert takes place on Sunday 2 April at 7.30pm at Little Benslow Hills, Ibberson Way, off Benslow Lane, Hitchin. Tickets cost £10 per person or £8 concessions. For further information phone 01582 882159.
