Bedfordshire's high-tech businesses and academic hubs will soon benefit from a new partnership between the University of Bedfordshire and Bedfordshire County Council.
A new programme which launches in November will give specialist support to help the county's technology and knowledge industries gain a business edge over their competitors and achieve their full potential.
The new scheme, which is provided by academics at the University of Bedfordshire and funded by Bedfordshire County Council, offers businesses the opportunity to develop new products, creative more jobs and grow their business to compete more successfully in the national, European and global markets.
Eamonn Keenan, Associate Director of Business Development at the University of Bedfordshire, said: "One of the new University's key aims is to focus on boosting the local economy and this project is a good way of embedding the University in the county and building on existing partnerships. It's also an opportunity for growing businesses to work with us and benefit from the facilities and knowledge we have available."
Bedfordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Growth, Councillor John Scott, added: "Bedfordshire's high-tech and knowledge based industries are on the up, but they can soar through this innovative programme. By working in partnership with the new University of Bedfordshire, we can target industry through a programme of intensive support, so they can thrive in a highly competitive business world.
"Bedfordshire is set to grow in the future and we need successful businesses to provide more jobs. This scheme is a good example of how a forward thinking Council, working in partnership can build economic success for the future."
