The music of Russian composer, Shostakovich, will be performed by the University of Bedfordshire’s resident quartet as part of its ‘Genius’ concert series at St Nicholas’ Church Hall in Barton-le-Clay on 15 October.
Quartet Camerata, will present the next in its series of concerts to celebrate the works of twentieth century Russian composers. The concert will also feature the quartet of Sir William Walton and Mozart’s Quintet in G Minor, with Symphonia Academica violist, Marcus Broome.
Artistic Director and leader of the quartet, Peter Bussereau, said: “Fire and passion are the hallmarks of these composers and we hope our performance will captivate the audience.”
Up-and-coming concerts in the ‘Genius’ series include performances with the BBC’s star music presenter, Petroc Trelawny, as well as Richard Sisson from cabaret group, Kit and the Widow on 13 November. Works by Stravinsky and Prokoviev will be performed on 26 November.
Last month, Peter Bussereau was awarded an Honorary Master of Arts by the University of Bedfordshire for his contribution to the musical life of the local community.
The quartet frequently performs at music clubs around the region, and has performed on BBC radio, and at a civic reception for the Queen.
The concert gets underway at 7.30pm with tickets costing £10 per person (£8 with concessions). To book tickets, or for further information, phone 01582 882159.
